Board of Appeals

In accordance with Section 116 of the Town Zoning Ordinance, the Board of Appeals has the following powers, duties, and functions:

• To hear and decide appeals alleging an error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official in the enforcement or administration of the Zoning Ordinance. Appeals must be filed in writing with the board within 10 days of the action, decision, or order being issued.
• To grant or deny a special exception in accordance with the terms of and as provided by the Zoning Ordinance. 
• To grant or deny variances from the strict application of the terms and requirements of the Zoning Ordinance except use variances.   

Requests for special exceptions, variances, or zone reclassifications should be submitted using the General Purpose Zoning Change Application form on the Forms and Permit Applications page.
